The National Creators Award was given out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week at a function held in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The National Creators Awards, which are given out in 23 categories, are meant to serve as a springboard for leveraging creativity to promote change.
Aman Gupta, co-founder of the Desi wearables company Boat, is one of the winners. In addition, Gupta is a well-known “Shark” on the television program Shark Tank India.
The “Celebrity Creator of the Year” honor went to Gupta. Gupta expressed his excitement at getting the award from PM Modi, stating that his goal is to sell Indian devices worldwide in the same manner as people in the nation wait in line to purchase “firangi” goods.
Gupta says ‘Make in India’ initiative helped brand
Speaking about Boat’s success story, Gupta claimed that Boat’s rise to the second-largest audio brand in the world was made possible by the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative. “When ‘Startup India’ was first announced in 2016, we were not taken seriously by the public. We are now the second-biggest audio brand in the world after seven years,” he stated.
Our products were not manufactured in India when Covid arrived. According to Gupta, the nation now produces 70% of the company’s goods.
He went on, “I hope that a good tech brand travels to other regions of the world and is valued in the same way that we view global brands.”
Boat leads India’s TWS market
Shipments of true wearable stereo (TWS) from India increased 34% YoY in 2023; Boat lead the market with a 39% YoY gain. For the fourth year in a row, Boat led the pack thanks to reasonably priced new releases and homegrown production. The business is well-known in the Indian smartwatch industry as well.
Boat, Noise, and Fire-Bolt were the top three vendors in India’s wearable market as a whole. The company provides ongoing improvements and a wide range of products at reduced average selling prices.
