    Jammu Kashmir Terror Attack: Nine people were martyred while 33 others were injured when terrorists opened fire at a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, causing the bus to fall into a gorge.

    “We were informed that militants were planning an attack, and they opened fire at the bus passing through the route from Shivpuri to Katra. Due to the firing, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the bus rolled down a gorge. We have completed the operation – 9 people are killed and 33 others are injured and admitted to the hospital. All the victims in the bus were not local pedestrians, about their identity we are not yet aware.”

    When asked if there were inputs about militant activity in the area, she said, “Whenever there is an incidence of militancy, we tend to be on high alert… The Shivpuri shrine had been secured, and in the adjacent areas also, we had been involved in area domination operations. ”

    The SSP and other civil and police officials including Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Pal Mahajan were present on the spot. Officials also said that the police and security forces were also involved in a search operation there.

    Eyewitnesses reported that two masked men fired on the bus, injuring the driver and some of the passengers. While locals stated that three passengers succumbed to bullet injuries and the rest in the bus crash, the officials maintained that this can only be ascertained after the post-mortem.

    Those who came forward as the victims were going to Katra town after visiting Shiv Khori a cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at Ransoo, District Reasi, and Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in the Trikuta Hills is located in Katra.

    Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that he was interacting with the LG and the J&K DGP had also inquired into the incident. “The perpetrators of this nasty act shall not go scot-free but shall definitely face the consequences of the law,” he said.

    Contrary to this, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in a post on the social media platform, wrote, “Even when PM Narendra Modi and his NDA Govt get sworn in and heads of several countries are in the country, an evil terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims has claimed lives… Just three weeks ago, tourists were fired upon in Pahalgam, and several terror incidents in Jammu & Kashmir are continuing unable.

    Congress leader Rahul Gandhi opined that the event’s trajectory reveals a ‘real image of emerging fear factor in JK’.

    The terrorist attack in Reasi’s Pouni neighborhood, the adjacent Rajouri district is the second time that a terrorist attack was carried out on pilgrims. Four pregnant women were burnt alive on 8th May 2022 on their way to KATRA to seek blessings of VAISHNODEVI and 24 others were seriously injured when aIEDO Katra to Jammu Roadways bus they were traveling in caught fire due to a bomb lobbed by terrorists.

    The recent militancy-driven incidents during the year 2021 have cost the lives of a total of 38 soldiers and 11 civilians in the Rajouri and Poonch districts.
