After ‘Fighter’, Yami Gautam’s ‘Article 370’ BANNED In Gulf Countries

The Gulf nations have banned the release of “Article 370,” an action political thriller starring actor Yami Gautam. This makes it the second Bollywood film of 2024 to be prohibited from theaters.

‘Article 370’ had a terrific opening weekend at the domestic box office thanks to a lot of excellent reviews and positive word-of-mouth; but, since the Gulf countries are a big market for Hindi films, the film’s overall collections are probably going to suffer. The political drama explores the difficulties people in Jammu and Kashmir endure during difficult times.

The aerial action film “Fighter,” starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, was also delayed in the UAE before being denied release in any of the Gulf countries in January. There were several rumors that the movie’s themes inspired the change. However, the certification board did not offer an official explanation.

Trade analysts predict that the prohibition in Gulf nations will have a major negative impact on movie office receipts. The widespread release of Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbusters “Pathaan” and “Jawan” across the Gulf countries is said to have allowed them to surpass the Rs 1000 crore milestone.

In the movie, which is set in the valley and centers on Jammu and Kashmir losing its unique status under Article 370, Yami plays intelligence officer Zooni Haksar.

On August 5, 2019, the Central government divided the former state of Jammu and Kashmir into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, rescinding Article 370, which had granted the former state unique status.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who mentioned the movie at a Jammu event, is among the politicians who have been praising the movie. “I’ve heard that a movie about Article 370 is releasing this week,” he remarked. It’s beneficial since it will enable individuals to obtain accurate information.”

Aditya Dhar refuted the accusation that the movie was propagating propaganda, despite the fact that it has been praised, adding, “I usually don’t think about critics who call it propaganda.” I believe that people’s perception of this movie as propaganda stems from the propaganda they have internalized. The movie “Article 370″ is centered on India. That tale is amazing. It’s among the greatest tales I’ve ever heard.”

Helmed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the film also stars Priyamani, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar.

Gulf nations have outlawed Article 370, the latest Bollywood film starring Yami Gautam. The prohibition is probably going to damage its overseas earnings. The film has received positive reviews and has been performing well at the box office.
