Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap surprised everyone with a new Instagram picture.
The director declared he is “tired of wasting time meeting people” and that he would henceforth charge for their meeting.
According to Kashyap’s post, he has “wasted a lot of time” attempting to assist newbies who believe “they’re creative geniuses.”
“I spent a lot of time trying to help newcomers, but mostly got mediocre results,” he said in his post. “I don’t want to waste any more time meeting strangers who think they are creative geniuses. So, from now on, I’ll be charging for my time.”
‘₹1 lakh for 10-15 minutes’
The director stated that while the newcomers would have to pay ₹5 lakh for a one-hour meeting, he would charge ₹1 lakh for 10 to 15 minutes of his time.
Kashyap said bluntly that only anyone with the means to do so should give him a call.
“I charge one lac for a meeting lasting ten to fifteen minutes, two lacs for a half-hour, and five lacs for an hour. That’s the pace. I’m over squandering time on meetings. Give me a call or just shut up if you truly believe you can afford it. And everyone paid in advance (emoji of folded hands),” he remarked.
The director expressed in his message how weary he is of encountering those who seek out cheap ways. “And I really do mean it.
” Please don’t call, text, or dm me. Pay, and you’ll be granted time. He wrote in a post, “I am not a charity, and I am sick of people searching for short routes.
Reactions to his post on the internet were swift.
“To be honest, Anuraag, I often feel the same way,” remarked Shekhar Kapur, the filmmaker.
There will be a gulf between industry professionals and aspirants from the younger generation, according to a social media user who “understands the sentiment.”
“While I can appreciate the sentiment, this basically increases the gatekeeping of an already wealthy and elitist business. Additionally, the industry will improve more slowly the wider the divide becomes between established experts and the aspirations of the next generation,” the user stated.
“But Babu, wouldn’t people who can pay for your time more likely waste your time as much, if not more?,” actor Shahana Goswami remarked. I concur with the first section, but how about if you don’t meet anyone and instead allow fate bring you together by chance to find your collaborators?”
Kubbra Sait said, “Amen, please (insert fire emoji).”
Vicky Kaushal is one of the many talents that Anurag Kashyap has helped to launch.
