Terence Winter, the showrunner of Tulsa King’s first season, is set to return for Season 2, albeit in a different capacity. He won’t be the showrunner this time, as the series is reportedly opting for a different approach, guided by an unnamed executive producer and director.

In May 2023, Stallone spoke to Newsweek about the writers strike affecting Tulsa King’s production, showing solidarity with the WGA. Production delays also occurred before the strikes due to changes in the writers room with Terence Winter’s departure as showrunner.

Unfortunately for Oklahomans eager to see their state featured on screen, Season 2 of the movie won’t return to film there.

Recap of Tulsa King Season 1

After 25 years in federal prison for a crime he didn’t commit, Dwight Manfredi arrives in Tulsa seeking a fresh start. Despite initial challenges, he quickly finds his place in the city’s underworld, forming alliances and sparking conflicts along the way.

In the finale, Dwight and his crew defeated Waltrip in a shootout at the Bred-2-Buck, cutting ties with the Invernizzi family. Three months later, Dwight’s business thrived, and his relationship with his daughter improved. However, trouble loomed ahead.

Stacy’s ATF superiors discovered her involvement with Dwight and pressured her to turn him in or lose her job. Reluctantly, she set up Dwight for arrest by the feds once more.

Storyline for Season 2 of Tulsa King

Season 2 of Tulsa King is set to commence with the aftermath of Dwight’s arrest, presenting an array of fresh storytelling opportunities as he grapples with legal troubles unprecedented in Season 1. The introduction of this new narrative arc not only enriches the plot dynamics but also adds depth to Dwight’s character development, as he navigates the complexities of the criminal justice system.

Furthermore, the looming specter of Chickie and the Invernizzi family casts a shadow over Dwight’s newfound freedom, hinting at an inevitable clash that promises to be both riveting and explosive. As tensions simmer beneath the surface, viewers can anticipate a dramatic escalation in the conflict between Dwight and Chickie, as their respective agendas collide with potentially devastating consequences. With the stage set for a high-stakes showdown, Season 2 of Tulsa King holds the promise of delivering intense drama, intricate plot twists, and gripping character arcs that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
