Every year on August 12, we mark International Youth Day. In addition to acknowledging the difficulties they confront, it is recognized for the contributions made by young people to the advancement of society. The goal of the day is to raise awareness of the socio-economic and socio-political problems that young people worldwide confront through a variety of awareness campaigns, community concerts, and events.

History
International Youth Day is observed on August 12 every year, as announced by the UN in 1999. It was based on a proposal presented to the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999 in Lisbon by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth. Since its inaugural celebration on August 12, 2000, the day has served as a platform for public education.
The United Nations General Assembly began aggressively promoting youth education and inspiration in 1965. The proclamation endorsing the principles of harmony, deference to others, and cross-cultural comprehension was accepted by them.
Concept of International Youth Day
Every year, International Youth Day centers around a distinct topic that emphasizes various facets of empowering and nurturing young people. ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’ is the chosen subject for 2024. As per the UN, the theme under consideration pertained to the relationship between “digitalization and accelerating the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the crucial contributions of young people in this transformative process.”
According to the organization’s website, “Young people are often considered ‘digital natives,’ being at the forefront of adopting and innovating with new technologies, even though challenges like the digital divide persist.” They make up the largest group of consumers and developers who are influencing global digital trends. Youth continue to be a crucial demographic segment for utilizing technology’s revolutionary potential to address global issues as the SDGs’ 2030 deadline draws near.”
Festivity
This year, the day seeks to honor the achievements made by young people in the digital sphere, which can encourage cooperation and aid in achieving the long-term objective of sustainable development. To inspire, inform, and commemorate the day, young people can organize conferences, seminars, concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings.
