    Encounter Erupts Between Security Forces and Militants in Pulwama

    Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Nihama, Pulwama, following specific intel about militants' presence, leading to an encounter.

    Security forces had specific inputs about the presence of militants in the Nihama area of the south Kashmir district and to hunt them down a cordon & search operation was launched, a police official said to PTI.

    It said that an operation was launched and an exchange of fire took place between militants and security forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, as reported by Kashmir Zone Police on its official posting on Twitter on June 3.

    Security forces have begun search operations using helmets and batons in houses in the Nihama area of Pulwama in the south Kashmir area, the official said to PTI. They stated that this action was undertaken after they received prior information regarding the presence of militants in the area.

    Moreover, three Indian Army lieutenant colonels and 13 others have been designated as accused in the charges of attempted murder and dacoity in the violent attack on Kupwara police station on May 30.

    On May 6, in the operation redwing payeen in Kulgam, the Indian Army killed three terrorists.

    The Army disclosed to the media that the operation was launched on the wee hours of May 7, it was successfully concluded on May 9 after they remained vigilant for nearly forty hours.

    Providing details of the operation about armed forces operation on the X, Chinar Corps stated, “A joint operation that began during the intervening night of 06/07 May 19 in the general area of Redwani Payeen Kulgam has been completed after sustained watch of approximately 40 hours. 4 terrorists were killed during the operation and other war-like stores recovered indicating yet another blow to the terror infrastructure.
