UPSC Chairman Manoj Soni has resigned for personal reasons. He has stated that he intends to focus on social and religious work after leaving. He submitted his resignation to the Department of Personnel (DOPT) 14 days ago, according to information released today (July 20).
The resignation hasn’t been accepted yet. His term lasted till May 2029. He was sworn in as UPSC chairman on May 16, 2023.

Manoj Soni stated that his resignation has nothing to do with the controversy and allegations against trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar. At the same time, Congress politician and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh stated in response to the chairman’s departure that he was ousted from the position because of the UPSC controversy. He claimed that the sanctity of the constitutional body has suffered significantly since 2014.

Every Year, The UPSC Conducts Exams for Civil Service Appointments
The UPSC is a constitutional body established under Article 315-323 Part XIV Chapter II of the Indian Constitution. This commission conducts numerous examinations on behalf of the central government. Every year, it holds civil service examinations for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services – Groups A and B.
The commission’s governing body consists of ten members, not including the chairman. The body has seven members as of Friday, excluding the chairman. Dinesh Dasa, the former head of the Gujarat Public Service Commission, was also in attendance.
