Islamabad: Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has experienced yet another setback. He was imprisoned on corruption-related accusations after relinquishing his position of authority. The government said on Monday that Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party would be outlawed due to allegations of anti-national activity.
“A case to prohibit PTI will be filed by the federal government. Ataullah Tarat, the minister of information, informed reporters in Islamabad that the issue would be brought before the Supreme Court.

PTI’s Formation and Rise to Power
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was founded in 1996 by former cricket player Imran Khan. 2018 saw the first election of his party following a protracted period of political unrest. Imran Khan was able to secure the position of prime minister.
However, his government fell apart in 2022 after losing the vote of trust. Shehbaz Sharif, the brother of Nawaz Sharif, led the formation of a government. Then came the attempts to bring Imran Khan to justice. Imran Khan was the subject of numerous schemes, including gift misuse, for which cases were filed. Right now, he is being held at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
Government’s Move to Ban PTI
There was sufficient convincing evidence to outlaw PTI after it was shown to be engaged in anti-national activities. According to Tarar, the government would start legal action against the party. Following the Supreme Court’s judgment to grant relief in the issues of Imran Khan’s illegal marriage and reserved seats, the PMLA administration made this move.
The Imran Khan-led party was allowed to set aside more than 20 seats for women and minorities, according to the Supreme Court. As a result, his PTI party was able to take the lead in the National Parliament.
Numerous Pieces of Evidence Against Prohibition
There is reliable proof that the government is acting. According to Minister Tarar, the move was made in response to multiple allegations, one of which is the verifiable claim that Imran Khan’s PTI received foreign funding from sources that are prohibited in Pakistan.
“There is very credible evidence that PTI should be banned based on foreign donation case, May 9 coup, Cipher case (the reveal of secret information), decision made in America, etc.,” he stated.
