New Delhi: During the 33rd death anniversary of the 7th PM of India – Rajiv Gandhi – the current Indian PM – Narendra Modi – honored the memory of the deceased leader. During the same, PM Modi among many tweeted saying, “On his death anniversary, my tributes to our former PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji. ” In a similar post on the now-known social media platform X that used to be called Twitter PM Modi expressed his respects saying, “On his death anniversary, my tributes to our former PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji.
Rajiv Gandhi became India’s youngest Prime Minister at the age of 40. He succeeded his mother, Indira Gandhi, as the head of the Congress Party and the Government of India after her assassination in 1984. Elected as Prime Minister in October 1984, he served until December 2, 1989.

Rajiv Gandhi’s life came to an untimely end on May 21 1991 when a woman (identified to be a Tamil Nationalist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam – LTTE bomber) exploded herself in a crowded election rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. His death was sudden and fatal and it affected a lot to the country and at the same time, it was a turning point in India’s political history.

The mark of respect paid by politicians from different parties today reflects on Sardar’s contribution to India and shows us how alive his dream for India is.
