    Narendra Modi takes Oath for Historic Third Term as India’s Prime Minister

    On June 9th, Narendra Modi took the oath as Prime Minister of India for a third term at Rashtrapati Bhavan, with 72 ministers expected in his new NDA government.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi Oath Ceremony: On Sunday, June 9th Narendra Modi vowed his oath as Prime Minister of India for the third time which took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi is the third non-Congress prime minister since the country attained independence with his reelection securing three terms in power. If trends are anything to go by, well over 72 ministers are likely to be sworn in as ministers in the new NDA Government.

    The resolutions on the new cabinet formation were made after the closed-door meeting at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence the previous day. The current ministers like Amit Shah who had the home portfolio, Rajnath Singh who was the defense minister, Nirmal Sitharaman for the finance ministry, S Jaishankar for the external affairs ministry and the other ministers of the current government such as Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hardeep Singh Puri among others are the ones included in the new government.

    The Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu is already in India attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister along with Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Other heads of state and government present during the ceremony include the President of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina; the Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles Ahmed Affif; the Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda; the President of Sri Lanka: Ranil Wickremesinghe.

    On Sunday, Narendra Modi was sworn in for the third term in succession as the Prime Minister of India in the ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.     Out of 71, as many as 46 were sworn in as Ministers of State in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Cabinet at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in New Delhi on Sunday days after the NDA leading with a comfortable majority in the Lok Sabha polls.

    Half of them were a dozen of ministers from BJP allies including other alliance partners while others were from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
