A senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha landed from the United Kingdom on Saturday and payed a visit to the residence of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. This visit takes place during the turbulent political and legal issues that the Swati Maliwal case refers to. This is the first public appearance of Chadha after many months.
Chadha’s Absence Due to Health Issues
Raghav Chadha, the youngest MP in the Rajya Sabha from Punjab, has been on an extended stay in the UK because of an emergent eye surgery. The surgery, a vitrectomy, was urgent to deal with a serious eye condition that threatened becoming blind. His prolonged absence set up doubts, especially during the electrifying Lok Sabha elections period. Yet, the AAP kept on the message in their campaign that Chadha will be back after full recovery.
Even though he was not physically present, Chadha kept active online and was highly involved in the party. He then re-assured AAP supporters that he is fully committed and will resume campaign as soon as his health gets better. On 10th of May, it was Chadha’s turn to celebrate Kejriwal’s interim bail on twitter as he credited the Supreme Court and praised it as a win for democracy.
Political Career and Contributions
Raghav Chadha has a great political background with considerable achievements. Apart from the fact that he is a Rajya Sabha MP, he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and an MLA from the Rajendra Nagar assembly constituency in Delhi. His work in these areas has been acknowledged and highly appreciated.
Chadha’s comeback and conversation with Kejriwal symbolize his reconnection to party activities in the midst of unexpected political situations. Their recovery and reappearance is expected to add strength to AAP in the current political dynamics. While the party navigates the complexities of Swati Maliwal issue along with other political hurdles, Chadha’s role will be pivotal in shaping their response and strategy.
