In a recent report, it was said that IPL team Royal Challengers Bengaluru cancelled their practice session and the press conference because of a serious threat to Virat Kohli.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is all set for the IPL 2024 Eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, prior to this, there was a report which stated that the franchise had to cancel a practice session before the match due to security reasons.
Before the match, Virat Kohli received a serious threat, which led RCB to cancel their practice session.
In a report by Anandabazaar Patrika, the franchise even called off the press conference and the practice session on the eve of the Eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals owing to security threats to Virat Kohli.
According to the report, the Gujarat Police suggested that Virat’s security was the cause for canceling the practice session and the press conference. On the positive side, the police said that they have apprehended 4 suspected terrorists from Ahmedabad.
RCB was set to practice at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 21), in preparation for the Eliminator on Wednesday (May 22) but this was called off due to this sad state of affairs.
Vijay Singha Jwala, a police officer narrated that Virat Kohli only came to know about the arrests when he was in Ahmedabad. He is a beloved national figure and, as such, his safety is paramount. RCB did not wish to take a risk. They told us that there would be no practice session. The Rajasthan Royals were also let in on the development but had no issues with proceeding with their practice session. ”
The report also revealed that the police quickly increased security measures around the RCB team’s hotel. Not only this but also according to the reports, the IPL-accredited members were not permitted to enter the team hotel.
Besides these, a ‘green corridor’ was said to be applied for the Rajasthan Royals to get to the training arena. Tight security arrangements will also be put in place for the IPL 2024 Eliminator match between RCB and RR on Wednesday.
