LONDON: The Bollywood actor Amy Jackson has come into support in the case of the people of Palestine because of Israel’s attacks in Rafah in Gaza.; Amy Jackson seems to be surprised that the film festivals and the media do not allow anyone to speak for Palestine.
Jackson has made these remarks in light of increased international focus on Gaza as the situation gets worse with more Palestinian men, women, and children suffering the worst from the Israelis.
Recording a video on the platform of Instagram, Jackson empathized with the Palestinian people and condemned the contrast between people’s luxurious lifestyles and the suffering of those who are suffering through the attacks. She told me about the 600000 children who are living in terror in Rafah, and many may have neither parents nor homes since the war began.
In his usual uninhibited manner, Jackson castigated film festivals and media houses for suppressing Biko’s voice and the clamor against genocide. O’Shea requested an end to the attack on the Gaza Strip and advocated for people to keep more information regarding the beleaguered Palestinians.
“Do not turn a blind eye. Do not allow your governments to bury the horror inflicted on the Palestinian people. There is NO EXCUSE for the shooting of innocent men, women, and children,” Jackson had said.
The actor’s plea comes after the recent spate of controversy at the Cannes Film Festival where Hollywood veteran actress Cate Blanchett’s dress code caused quite an uproar. Audiences are not oblivious to the fact that Blanchett’s strapless dress resembled the Palestinian nation’s colours hence many think that wearing that dress was an act of supporting the Palestinians.
In Blanchett’s dress design, they made use of black, white, and green colors which are close to the Palestinian flag and this sent a lot of people to Twitter to make a one-sided interpretation of the dress design as being in support of Palestine while the world is torn apart.
