In Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, multiple bogies of the Dibrugarh Express derailed, resulting in at least three fatalities and over twenty injuries. According to Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar, the accident claimed the lives of twenty persons.

Emergency Response and Rescue Operations
According to Kumar, there are currently 15 ambulances and a 40-person medical team at the scene, and more ambulances and medical teams are on their way. About 150 miles from Lucknow, senior authorities from the railway and local administration are also present to oversee the rescue efforts. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has instructed the district officials to make sure the accident victims receive the right care.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered district administration officials to go to the scene and start the relief effort as soon as possible, the CM’s office stated in a post on X. The officials have been directed by the Chief Minister to promptly transport the injured individuals to the hospital and ensure they receive appropriate medical care. He also read a post from the chief minister’s office wishing for the injured people to recover quickly.

Medical vehicles have arrived at the scene, and Indian Railways has started relief efforts. “The medical van of Railways has arrived at the location and rescue operations have commenced,” said Pankaj Singh, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, to ANI. There are now helpline numbers available. It took place at 2:37 p.m.

Ongoing Monitoring and Support
The Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh declared on X that a single NDRF team had been sent to Gonda from Balrampur and Lucknow. Additionally, the office of Assam Chief Minister Himanata Biswa Sarma stated that he was keeping a careful eye on the situation. It addressed X and stated, “HCM Dr. Himanta Biswa has been informed about the Uttar Pradesh Dibrugarh – Chandigarh Express derailment. The Assamese government is in communication with the appropriate authorities, and HCM is keeping an eye on the issue.
