One of the top production companies in the business, Pooja Entertainment has produced several genuine hits. But their record over the past few years is nothing but turds and turkeys. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, their most recent disaster, vanished into thin air. There have also been a few rumors about the company. All this drama comes to an end finally.
To exacerbate the situation, a few crew members have called them out for not paying. Not only that, but a source told Bollywood Hungama that amid the string of failures, legendary producer Vashu Bhagnani is selling his office.
“It all started with Bell Bottom,” a source was cited as saying. Bell Bottom was one of the first Hindi films to be released in theaters following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. Both the movie and Mission Raniganj, the follow-up, had a disastrous run at the box office. Another blow to the corporation came when the high-profile Ganapath film fell short of expectations and was turned down by Netflix despite an acquisition agreement. By now, the company’s financial sheet had started to show warning signs, and the significant investment in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan made things worse.
Vashu Bhagnani: who is he?
Bhagnani started his career as a builder in the building industry. He was born in Kolkata. After producing the 1995 smash Coolie No. 1 starring David Dhawan, he went on to produce movies including Hero No. 1, Biwi No. 1, Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein, Om Jai Jagdish, Deewanapan, and Ghost. His estimated net worth is $2,500 crore.
With the 2009 bomb Kal Kissne Dekha, he made his son Jackky Bhagnani’s cinematic debut. Together, they went on to make more films including Faltu, Ajab Gazabb Love, Rangrezz, Youngistaan, and Welcome To Karachi.
The team Pooja Entertainment has not yet provided a statement, and no official update has been released.
