    About Movie Dange

If Gen Z is a thesis paper, director Bejoy Nambiar has studied it to an extreme degree. Big bong shots, one-night hookups that pass for formal dates, and living in a time where your mother is also your “bro” Dange is a fantastic film that tricks the audience into believing the actors are in their twenties, despite the fact that their somewhat older looks make it difficult for them to look that age. The story contains something for everyone, even though drugs and pointless sex rule the story—both the rebels and those who are rebelling against them.

After drifting apart due to incredibly bad circumstances, two buddies who were raised at boarding schools reunite in a Goa medical college years later. One was furious and infuriated, while the other was composed and healing. However, like any relationship or human love, in general, seldom follows a straight path, and Nambiar, with his diverse career graph, is all too aware of this.

Unresolved conflicts do indeed constitute the fundamental core of Dange (meaning: rioting); yet, beneath all of that hash and cuddles, the story is really about love and desire.

    Review

Had we not been aware of Nambiar’s captivating storytelling approach, the opening scene would have come across as unsettling and even cliche to certain individuals. Just before a vital medical exam that he has been failing for the previous five years, you have the always well-groomed Harshvardhan Rane (as the impulsive yet endearing Xavier). The standard images of attractive young ladies dancing in and out of frames are then shown, reinforcing the idea that these girls are impressionable, naive, and possess an extreme sexual drive. You make a valid point.

To be honest, the first half of the film’s cinematography captures your interest for a short while, but you soon begin to question what message, if any, Team Dange is attempting to teach. Before long, a conflict between two ex-leastros arises over a college General Secretary’s (GS) position. Casteist undertones are added, and a few minutes into the narrative, mental health is brought into the mix. To be honest, things might have gone wrong with the mixture. With the exception of a few glitches, the most evident being the movie’s length, Danger is most likely to appeal to the age group that it was clearly targeting from the beginning: Gen Z.

Women only initiate protests in Nambiar’s universe, while men put out the flames. For example, Dange begins as your typical lighthearted student drama on steroids but swiftly elevates to become something more: a feeling of justice and fairness that is a result of being youthful and idealistic. Most importantly, though, is that Dange risks to speak up in an environment when doing so usually ends in outright bans and the spread of cancel culture.

Following a very unremarkable Taish, Nambiar turns Rane into a rambunctious little character who is somewhat successful and somewhat unsuccessful. He generally captures impulsivity accurately. It’s entertaining to witness Ehan Bhat play a vengeful man with a conscience. Nikita Dutta also performs her part as Rishika with grace and elegance.

It’s possible that Dange lacks self-control and the capacity for natural flow. The duration of the film may be a major turnoff for many viewers, particularly the impressionable and careless. The story’s aimlessness in the middle, as it loses sight of its own goals, certainly doesn’t help.

That being said, not every film needs to pique your interest in academic pursuits. Dange is here to have fun, and you ought to too.
