Exploring the Storyline of Maidaan

    Amit Ravindernath Sharma is the writer and director of Maidaan, an upcoming Hindi-language biographical sports drama film produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor. It is based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, an innovative football coach in India from 1952 to 1962, and stars Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao.

    Plot of the Movie


    The film takes place between 1952 and 1962. It tells the story of Syed Abdul Rahim, the renowned football coach. He transformed the game in India. The Indian football team played in a 4-2-4 system. They were dubbed the “Brazil of Asia.” This was due to his enormous contribution to the game.




    Rahim became a legendary character in Indian sports history thanks to his tenacity, vision, and leadership. It depicts Rahim’s struggles, sacrifices, and moments of victory as well as the Indian football team’s quest to transcend cultural barriers and make a name for themselves on the international front. This helped India win two gold medals at the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962, and the Indian football team became the first in Asia to ever make it to the semi-finals of the 1956 Summer Olympics.

    Production of the Movie


    Principal photography began on August 19, 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and Cyclone Nisarga significantly delayed the process. The delays finally ended in May 2022. The movie was initially scheduled to release on June 3, 2022. However, post-production work caused the delay. It was then rescheduled for June 23, 2023, but faced another postponement.


    Music of the Movie


    Manoj Muntashir wrote the lyrics for the movie, while A. R. Rahman composed the music. On March 18, 2024, the first single, “Mirza,” became available.

    After multiple delays, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 10 April 2024, coinciding with Eid, in standard formats and IMAX
