Happy Birthday, Darsheel Safary: Celebrating a Young Talent’s Journey

Happy Birthday, Darsheel Safary! Today, we celebrate not just another year of your life but the remarkable journey of talent and inspiration you’ve shared with the world.

    Darsheel’s Career

Safary, who was raised in a Gujarati Jain household, made his screen debut as the lead character of Taare Zameen Par (2007) as Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi. While searching for a male lead for Taare Zameen Par in late 2006, screenwriter and creative director Amol Gupte came across Safary. During Shiamak Davar’s “Summer Funk” dancing school, Gupte eventually selected Safary after going through hundreds of tryouts. Before selecting Safary, Gupte had other boys try out for a scene where, given a few possibilities, they would jokingly describe how they would “bunk” school. “That was a tough call,” he remembers. However, Darsheel believes that Ishaan is the mischievous one. Everyone drew toward him instinctively.”

As an actor, Darsheel is amazing; he’s endearing and impulsive, and he bears the entire weight of this movie.” Safary was hailed as the “real star of the film” and his performance as “brilliant” by other reviews. Safary said in a 2007 interview that he might pursue a profession in singing, dance, business, or jewelry creation.

In 2010, he received ₹ 3 lakh for his second film, Bumm Bumm Bole, which was reportedly the biggest payment given to a kid actor. Following that, he worked on two more movies: Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children (2012) and Disney India’s superhero movie Zokkomon (2011).

With Avneet Kaur as his dance partner, he competed in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2012; nevertheless, he was ousted and placed eighth. He stepped away from performing to concentrate on his education.
