The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an “orange” notice on Monday for severe rainfall in the districts of Pune and Satara, Maharashtra, indicating that strong monsoon conditions are still present throughout the nation. Mumbai, Thane, and other nearby areas have also received a “yellow” notice for significant rainfall. In the meantime, according to the weather service, Kerala, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and other states are expected to see significant rainfall.

Maharashtra
According to the IMD, there will likely be considerable rainfall in some areas of Maharashtra on Monday, August 5, with a gradual decrease afterward due to the deep depression over southwest Bihar and neighboring northwest Jharkhand and the low-pressure region over southwest Rajasthan and the surrounding area. An “orange” notice for significant rainfall has been issued for the districts of Pune and Satara.
Waterlogging has resulted from the torrential rain that has been falling steadily in Pune over the past few days. The IMD forecasted that on August 6, there would likely be light to moderate rainfall in isolated ghat areas, and on August 7, there would probably be moderate rainfall across the metropolis.
Kerala
The IMD stated that severe rains will continue to plague Kerala, following severe landslides in Wayanad, a few days ago. Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannnur, and Kasargod are the six districts that received a “yellow” weather advisory from the weather department on Monday. According to the local media, the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) has issued a warning for large waves and the “Kallakkadal” phenomena over the coastlines of Kerala till 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
Himachal Pradesh
Up till August 8, the local meteorological authority in Himachal Pradesh has issued a “yellow” notice due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in isolated areas.
Over the past few days, the hilly state has been experiencing floods and landslides caused by severe rains, which has left a path of destruction, claimed lives, and destroyed infrastructure all over the state. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that Himachal is dealing with a loss of about ₹700 crore in the wake of the tragedy.
Other Regions
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light to heavy rainfall over Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Chhattisgarh and Coastal Karnataka. In the Northeast, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
