    Acknowledging India’s Superiority

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final, England lost to India by 68 runs, but captain Jos Buttler was ready to give his team’s opponents credit for their victory. “India definitely outperformed us,” he declared right after the game. “Perhaps we gave them too many runs. “It was a challenging surface that they played well on.”

    Debunking the Toss Myth

After winning the toss, Buttler decided to bowl instead, but he insisted he wasn’t responsible for the loss. “They outbowled us, they had an above-par score,” he stated. “I don’t think the toss was the difference between the teams.” Regarding the 172-point objective, he continued, “It was always going to be a tough chase.”

When asked to sum up his team’s performance in the tournament overall—which included losses to Australia, South Africa, and now India—he responded, “Really proud of everyone’s efforts to be here.” Only the person placed in front of you may play.

“We’ve had lots of adversity throughout the competition, we’ve stuck together well as a group, played some really good cricket in patches, but came up short when we needed it the most.”

“Whatever team [we picked], whatever happened at the toss, they were going to be a tough team to beat, and we had to be at our best if we were going to win the game, and we were short of our best today,” he continued later in the post-match press conference.
