Hero’s Welcome in Hyderabad
Notably, team India used a chartered airplane on Thursday, July 4 to return home after spending three days stranded in Barbados following their victory due to Cyclone Beryl. Fans poured into the airport in the early hours of the morning to see the World Champions, and the Men in Blue were met with a boisterous reception upon their arrival in Delhi. Siraj eventually made his way back home after taking part in lavish festivities in Delhi and Mumbai.
Emotional Moment with Mother
The right-arm seamer posted a touching photo of himself with his mother Shabana wearing his winner’s medal on Instagram, captioning the post with the words “Boss” and multiple heart emojis. Social media users have been expressing their love for the celebrity cricket player’s endearing gesture as the image has gone viral.
Siraj’s Performance in the World Cup
Interestingly, Siraj took one wicket in his three outings during the competition. The right-arm seamer bowled at an economy of 5.18, however, he did not give up any runs. He dismissed George Dockrell in the opening match of the competition, recording figures of 1/13 against Ireland. In addition, he bowled a spare over against Pakistan, recording stats of 0/19 in four overs.
Siraj’s World Cup journey came to an end as he was substituted by Kuldeep Yadav in the Super 8 stages after he further scored 0/25 in four overs against the USA and a washout against Canada in the fourth Group match.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier visited the Indian team for a breakfast meeting in Delhi, where they had a lighthearted discussion. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) then arranged a special roadshow in Mumbai so that fans could have a close-up look at their idols.
