Additionally, BJP’s K Annamalai in Coimbatore, L Murugan in Nilgiris, and Tamilisai Soundararajan in South Chennai, along with former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam in Ramanathapuram, Congress party’s Karti Chidambaram in Sivaganga, AIADMK’s J Jayavardhan in South Chennai, and AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran in Theni stand out as prominent candidates.
Furthermore, the electoral process has initiated in the nearby region of Puducherry, marking the beginning of a direct confrontation between the Congress and BJP.
At certain polling stations, such as the one falling under the Sriperumbudur Lok Sabha segment near Tambaram, an hour-long delay in voting occurred due to malfunctions in the electronic voting system.
