Revised Pricing Model for JioCinema
The ad-free subscription will start at an introductory rate of ₹29/month for streaming on a single device. Furthermore, a ‘Family’ plan, enabling streaming on four simultaneous devices, will be available at ₹89 per month.
Previously, the platform charged ₹99 monthly or ₹999 annually for premium service, enabling streaming on four devices simultaneously with ads.
Existing JioCinema premium members will receive ‘Family’ plan benefits at no extra cost, as confirmed by the statement.
Approach and Pricing
Kiran Mani, CEO of Viacom18’s digital division, mentioned the plan provides online/offline viewing in 4K for foreign movies, TV series, and kids’ programs.
Mani aims to make the OTT platform a daily habit for Indian families by ensuring affordability and accessibility, Bloomberg reports.
Mani noted a vast kids’ content library and strong Hollywood collection. Observing a trend of viewers favoring local languages for shows like House of the Dragon and Oppenheimer.
While the platform gained popularity for free IPL streaming, revised pricing now focuses on premium content; free streaming continues with ads.
Mani told Bloomberg that IPL will drive JioCinema, citing a surge from 120 million to over 500 million screens in India.

Reuters noted that Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, known for disruptive strategies, aims to boost JioCinema’s competitiveness against Netflix and Amazon.
