On April 14, five rounds of firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence shocked the nation. Special MCOCA judge A M Patil has committed the accused Vicky Gupta, Sagar Pal, and Anuj Thapan to police custody while Sonu Kumar Chander Bishnoi was forwarded to judicial custody on medical grounds. But Anuj was detained at Mumbai Police Headquarters and, as per the media, tried to commit suicide in the wee hours of May 1st.

A few days later on May 22 this year, Salman Khan filed a petition to the Bombay High Court to remove his name in the petition filed by the mother of accused Anuj Thapan.
The Daily Bar and Bench reported that on May 22, Salman Khan pleaded to the Bombay High Court not to include him in the petition filed by the mother of Anuj Thapan seeking a CBI investigation into her son’s death in police custody.
Thapan was one of the accused named in the case of firing near Khan’s house and she committed suicide while being in police detention. The Tiger 3 actor said that he has not been accused of anything in the petition but the plea was for an FIR against him.
The report also noted that the petitioner’s lawyer stated that by mistake the name of Khan was included in the prayers and permission to delete this was allowed by the High Court on May 22.
The accuser in Salman Khan’s house firing incident commits suicide
Among the accused, one Anuj Thapan who was taken into Police custody at Mumbai Police Headquarters allegedly tried to commit suicide on May 1 early morning. The 32-year-old was immediately taken to GT Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. According to Indian Express, a police official said: “The incident took place at around 11 am in the bathroom of the police lock-up on the first floor”.
