“Very Sorry”: Singapore Airlines Boss as One Dead 70 Injured on Flight.

    A disastrous case of turbulence occurred on Tuesday, which led to the death of one passenger and left 30 others seriously injured, all of the on board a Singapore Airlines flight.

    New Delhi: Speaking to Reuters on Wednesday Singapore airline’s CEO apologized to the public after one patient died and about 70 other passengers got injured in a flight from London to Singapore after the plane was involved in severe turbulence. The Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines, Goh Choon Phong, released a video message where he admitted ‘We are very sorry for the traumatic experience’ that everyone on board the SQ321 went through on Tuesday.

    An Indo-European SIA London to Singapore flight experienced severe turbulence at 37 thousand feet. It had 211 people on board including passengers and 18 members of the crew.

    The airline stated that 18 people were hospitalized, and 12 were still receiving treatment, while Samitivej Hospital was currently treating 71 passengers.

    “On behalf of Singapore Airlines, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims brutally killed in SQ321 and to all those who underwent the traumatic ordeal,” said Mr. Phong.

    He said that Singapore Airlines would in every possible way and capacity avail its support and cooperation to all the passengers and crew in SQ321. He also stated that they are “fully cooperating” on those investigations with the relevant authorities.

    Mr Phong revealed that out of 321 passengers and crew of SQ321 that come to be affected by the situation, 143 were able to travel back to Singapore in a relief flight today morning. Another 79 persons and six crew of SQ321, those receiving care, and their relatives among the passengers also stayed behind in Bangkok, he added.

    ‘I want to reassure all passengers that Singapore Airlines is with you and stands ready to assist at this challenging time,’ said Mr Phong. Just recently, horror on a Singapore Airlines flight. The company stated that a flight that started from Heathrow Airport in London on Monday and was bound for Singapore, ‘experienced fierce turbulence’.
