Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi is set to be sworn in for his third consecutive term on June 9 at 7:15 p.m. at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event will also mark the swearing-in of his newly appointed Council of Ministers.

Among the priorities was inviting leaders of neighboring countries to underline the country’s focus on regional cooperation.
- President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka: President Wickremesinghe extended best wishes to Modi and agreed to attend the ceremony saying that people of India trusts Modi.
- President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives: Muizzu said it was a honour to be part of the event as it showed a positive diplomatic relations between India and Maldives.
- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh: Hasina responded positively to Modi’s invitation and traveled to New Delhi to attend the event, proving the significance of the partnership between India and Bangladesh.
- Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of Nepal: PM Prachanda will attend this ceremony through a three day official visit to India which will underscore bilateral relations between the two nations.
- Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan: Tobgay offered his congratulations and best wishes to Modi, while acknowledging his strategic thinking and focus.
- Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius and Vice-President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles: Leaders of the two countries will also be present at the ceremony, which will further strengthen regional integration.
- Besides, Surekha Yadav, Asia’s first lady loco pilot, will be among ten invited loco pilots. Yadav, a Vande Bharat Express train driver, will symbolize pioneering innovation in India’s railways.
The Delhi Police have deployed parameters security measures such as layered security involving paramilitary forces, NSG commandos, aerial surveillance through drones, and sharpshooters to prevent any untoward incident.
After the administration, there will be a swearing-in ceremony followed by a reception to be hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Earlier, at oath taking ceremonies, leaders of SAARC and BIMSTEC countries were also invited which shows that regional cooperation has remained an important focus throughout Modi’s term.
