Review of the Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G

Realme has recently expanded the availability of its newest sub-flagship smartphone, the Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G. Positioned at the forefront of the brand’s latest numerical series, this device showcases premium features, an exquisite and opulent design, and a versatile camera setup.

Priced at Php25,999, Realme demonstrates its lofty aspirations for the number series, traditionally aimed at the midrange segment. In our assessment of the Realme 12 Pro+, we’ll delve into its capabilities to meet the demands of the premium midrange market. Let’s begin our review.

    Aesthetic Appeal and Screen Quality

The Realme 12 Pro boasts a distinctive design, featuring a collaboration with luxury watch designer Ollivier Savéo. Its Submarine Blue variant, adorned with a golden fluted bezel, exudes elegance. The vegan leather back ensures a comfortable grip and prevents fingerprint accumulation, while the thin curved frame enhances portability.

    Aesthetic Appeal and Construction

Reiterating its premium status, the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G presents itself in a distinguished manner. Adorned in Submarine Blue, its luxurious vegan leather finish exudes sophistication and offers a pleasing texture. Moreover, its non-reflective surface sets it apart from the common glossy glass or plastic exteriors, ensuring it remains free from unsightly fingerprints.

Apart from the leather-like material, we appreciate the sophisticated design of the camera island, inspired by luxury watches, as Realme claims. Its symmetrical rounded glass, slightly curved, reminiscent of a classic watch face, adds to its allure.

Encircling the camera island are 300 meticulously crafted triangular grooves, providing a sense of quality and texture that’s noticeable when running your fingers over them.

Although the Realme 12 Pro+ may not boast the thinnest or lightest profile on paper, its curved design and soft material make it exceptionally comfortable to hold, even during prolonged use.

At the top, you’ll find the secondary speaker and microphone.

Located at the bottom, you’ll find the SIM tray accommodating two nano SIM cards. However, there’s no microSD card slot available. Adjacent to this setup are the primary microphone, USB-C port, and the primary loudspeaker.

The left side remains uncluttered, while on the right side, you’ll find the volume controls and the lock/power switch. The physical buttons offer a satisfactory pressing experience—while not the absolute best we’ve encountered, they’re tactile, responsive, and durable enough to withstand years of use.

    Release Date

    April 2nd, 12:00 PM

The Realme 12x 5G will operate on Android 14 and feature dual stereo speakers, Rainwater smart touch, Dynamic button, and Air Gestures.

Realme claims that the Realme 12x 5G boasts the thinnest design in its segment, measuring just 7.69mm in thickness.

The forthcoming smartphone will offer consumers a choice between two color variants: green and a shade of purple. Its rear will showcase a circular camera module, complemented by what Realme describes as a “trendy watch design.”

    Is it worth purchasing?

The Realme 12 Pro excels in design, offering the best aesthetics in its price range. Its telephoto camera delivers impressive shots, and it matches competitors in display quality and charging speed. Yet, for those prioritizing performance, it contends with the POCO X6 5G, featuring a superior processor.
