Former Congress Leader Gourav Vallabh Joins BJP Ahead of 2024 Elections: Embracing Pro-Hindutva Stance and Criticizing Congress Direction

On Thursday, former Congress leader Gourav Vallabh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde. This comes ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, which are taking place in seven phases beginning on April 19. After joining the BJP, Vallabh expressed his views on the construction of the temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya, saying, “This has been my view from the beginning that the temple of Lord Shri Ram (in Ayodhya) should be built.” Vallabh tendered his resignation from the Congress party earlier today, saying he cannot “raise anti-Sanatana slogans or abuse the wealth creators”.

He alleged that the party’s ground level has completely broken down, which does not understand the aspirations of New India. He added, “As a result, the party is neither coming into power nor able to play as an opposition. This disappoints a worker like me. Bridging the gap between senior leaders and grassroots workers is very difficult, which is essential politically.”

However, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gourav wrote, “I do not feel comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatana slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country. I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of the Congress party.” Vallabh also raised concerns about the Congress party’s approach. He said “These days, the party is moving forward in the wrong direction. On one hand, we talk about the caste-based census, while on the other hand, there is a perception of being against the Sampurn Hindu Samaj (the entire Hindu society). This approach is misleading the public that the party is supportive only of a particular religious group. This goes against the fundamental principles of the Congress party.” He hopes to use his ability and knowledge to take India forward by joining the BJP.

    About Gaurav Vallabh

He is a professor, author, and former Congress spokesperson, Gourav Vallabh is known for his combative opposition to the BJP. He has a doctorate in credit risk assessment and has worked in the banking sector. Once during a TV discussion, he exposed the ignorance of BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra by asking him how many zeroes are in a trillion. Vallabh emphasizes the importance of knowing what you speak about and not misleading people. He claims to be a devout Hindu and conducts daily Puja in his house. He questions his students, political rivals, and the government to make them accountable. Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das should be ready for questions from Vallabh.
