In Ladakh, a tank has broken apart while crossing a river. This accident resulted in the martyrdom of five army troops. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense, posted this information on social media. It has been reported that T-72 is the tank that went down. According to official accounts, this tragedy occurred as the tank was crossing a river during a training trip. This incident occurred during the practice in Mandir Mor, which is located 148 km from Leh, at around one in the evening.

The military explained how the mishap occurred.

“On the night of June 28, 2024, following a military training exercise, an Army tank got stuck due to a sudden rise in water level in the Shyok river near Saser Brangsa, East Ladakh,” stated an Army Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Leh in a statement. Rescue crews arrived at the scene. However, the tank crew members perished since the rescue effort was unsuccessful because of the strong currents and high water level. The loss of five courageous soldiers during their operational deployment in East Ladakh is deeply regretted by the Indian Army.

Rajnath Singh, the defense minister, stated: “Unfortunate accident…

“Deeply saddened by the loss of life of five of our brave Indian Army personnel in an unfortunate accident while transporting tanks across a river in Ladakh,” stated Defense Minister Rajnath Singh about the tank mishap in Ladakh. We shall always be grateful for our courageous warriors’ exceptional service to our country. I send the families of the deceased my sympathies. The nation is strongly in their corner during this difficult time.”

The Ladakh region saw an accident due to an unexpected rise in water levels in the river that the tanks were traveling through. Tank warfare exercises were taking place on Friday in the Daulat Beg Ode area close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC), according to official sources who spoke with IANS from Leh city, in the Ladakh region.

The clouds burst in the high altitude location during this war drill, causing the creek that the tanks were crossing to abruptly become inundated. According to sources, “A tank got stuck in the sudden flood, in which 5 soldiers were martyred.” One junior commission officer was reportedly among the soldiers slain in this incident, according to sources.
