    The results of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary examination were released on Monday by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The results can be found at upsc.gov.in, the commission’s website.     1) Visit upsc.gov.in first.
    2) Click the CSE Prelims result link by going to the ‘What’s New’ tab.
    3) A PDF with the shortlisted candidates’ roll numbers will open.
    4) Save a copy to your computer for later use.

    Exam Overview

    Notably, the 400-point general studies paper 1 and paper 2 exam was administered in two sessions. Every question had four options and was of the objective kind. For every question, candidates had to choose the best or most appropriate response. Experts have previously stated that this year’s CSE preliminary exam was simpler than in previous years, and thus higher cut-off marks were probably expected.

    Selected candidates will now be contacted for the Mains phase, which comprises of two parts: a written exam and a personality test, following the announcement of the preliminary examination results. According to the UPSC calendar, September 2024 is the tentative date for the Civil Services Mains Examination.

    Next Steps and Recruitment Details

    It is anticipated that 1,056 positions in central government departments and services will be filled this year through recruitment exams. The Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) are examples of this. Additionally, forty are set aside for PwBDs, or people with benchmark disabilities.

    There are two phases to the UPSC Civil Services Exam: General Studies and specialized topics. In under 70 words, General Studies addresses world affairs, science and technology, Indian heritage, politics, economy, society, and the environment. Subjects that are optional include public administration and law.
